*Nominated for the 'Best International Feature Film' Academy Award*Thirteen-year-old boys Léo and Rémis have a close friendship at school and in the flower fields where they and their parents pick the harvest for home. When schoolmates shoot a wedge into the relationship, the consequences are fatal.Thirteen-year-olds Leo and Remi are best friends. We meet them running happily through vast fields of flowers. They dream of unimaginable wealth, of being stars on YouTube. Remi is an aspiring musician, and Leo is his greatest fan. Theirs is a loving and genuine friendship. And then they start high school. For the very first time, their closeness comes into question as they are teased and taunted by their schoolmates. Gradually, a rift develops between the friends, with tragic consequences. Shot in vibrant color, and frequently in close-up, CLOSE is a film of incredible perception, with much of its power conveyed without dialogue, through the expressive faces of the two lead performers. Purely cinematic, CLOSE, winner of the Grand Prix Award at Cannes, immerses viewers in a relationship that feels real and intensely moving.
